Angie Ketelhut~Artist Statement
Pets~They are such lovable characters Always faithful and so very
happy to see us,
they bring so much joy to each one of our days & lives.
They also have a mischievous side to
their personalities at times, which is so endearing & precious.
Growing up amongst several furry friends, (dogs, cats,
guinea pigs, etc)
it was only natural that they would become models for my paintings.
With each painting, I strive to capture individual pet personalities,
along with the more obvious, physical characteristics.
Color is a very important element for me and I use vibrant
colors along with expressive
brushstrokes to emulate & express each pet's highly “colorful” character.
I am also interested in the concept of capturing an “alive”
& vibrant pet
"moment in time” may it be a happy or goofy one :-) .
My goal with this is
to depict a sense of life while capturing the essence of each individual pet.
When creating custom paintings, I enlist
the help of human moms and dads to create a
more personal image that will capture a memorable moment or favorite past-time
from a particular pet's life.
I also enjoy adding my personal touch of whimsy,
such as a smiling moon
or sun from time to time.

My paintings are meant to bring smiles as the furry models themselves
make us
smile each & every day.
Our beloved Boston Terrier, Fatsa is an inspiration for my pet paintings in general.
He's
so full of life, heart & soul
& truly a work of art. :-)
