Angie Ketelhut~Artist Statement Pets~They are such lovable characters Always faithful and so very happy to see us,
they
bring so much joy to each one of our days & lives.
They also have a mischievous side to their personalities at times,
which is so endearing & precious.
Growing up amongst several furry friends, (dogs, cats, guinea pigs, etc)
it was only natural that they would become models for my paintings.
With each painting, I aim to capture individual
colorful pet personalities,
heart & soul along with the more obvious, physical characteristics.
I also enjoy
creating paintings that capture important moments in a particular pet's life,
may it be
enjoying a favorite yummy treat, lounging in a favorite chair,
or posing in front of a landmark in his/her hometown.
When creating custom paintings, I really enjoy the process of working
with human moms and dads to create a
personal image, one which they can look at and feel the essence of their pet
has been really been captured, along with a sense of life. I work from a combination of photos, descriptions,
and good ‘ole imagination. I also enjoy adding my personal touch of whimsy, such as a smiling moon or sun from time
to time.

My paintings are meant to bring smiles as the furry models themselves
make us
smile each & every day.
Our beloved Boston Terrier, Fatsa is an inspiration for my pet paintings in general.
He's so full of life, heart & soul & truly a work of art. :-)
