Angie Ketelhut~Artist Statement Pets~They
are such lovable characters Always faithful and so very happy to see us,
they bring so much joy to each one of our days
& lives.
They also have a mischievous side to their personalities at times, which is so endearing & precious.
Growing up amongst several furry friends, (dogs, cats, guinea pigs, etc)
it was only natural that they would become
models for my paintings.
With each painting, I aim to capture individual colorful pet personalities,
along
with the more obvious, physical characteristics . Most of my portraits include creative personalized backgrounds. I love the
process of working with human moms and dads to create an image which captures not only the physical charactertics
& personalties of their beloved pet/s, but also the environment he/she enjoys as well, such as the beach, a
backyard, or favorite cozy lounging sofa
My goal with each commissioned
portrait is to create a personal image, one which they can look at and feel the essence of their pet has been really
been captured, along with a sense of life. I work from a combination of photos, descriptions, and
a bit of imagination.
My paintings are meant to bring smiles as the furry models themselves
make us smile
each & every day.
My little buddy, Boston Terrier, Fatsa is an inspiration for my pet paintings in general. He's full of life, heart & soul & truly a work of art. :-)
